July 5, 2010

Kade had today off for the holiday weekend, so we decided to go and have a family fund day. We started off with a hike at Cress Creek up by Heise. It was a great day for a hike and the kids loved it. We looked for wild flowers and animal prints all along the hike.

Everybody dipped their hats in the creek to cool off their heads, but Brancyn was so mad that we dipped his so he wouldn't wear it anymore-little stinker, he was soooo hot after that.

After we finished our hike, we decided to head over to Elephant Rock near Heise to see if we could watch some people rock climb. While we were there, Kade started talking to some of the climbers and found out that one of the guys just went up there certain days of the week to offer his services as a rock climbing instructor and his gear for free. You can't get a better offer than that and decided to give it a try.

Kayson was the first brave one and did awesome.

Next was Liberty, look how high she got!

Brylee had fun, but wanted to hang on to her rope instead of the rock, so he mostly just got pulled up and then let back down again.

Kade decided to give it a try and got higher than any of us.

And last was me (Deidra) I definitely didn't get as high as Kade, but I still had a lot of fun trying.

After such a busy day and straining so many muscles, we were in serious need of some nourishment. We decided to end the day by trying out the new Picketts Bambino in town. If you have not yet had a chance to try these, GO TRY ONE!!!! They became an instant hit in our family. They are scones stuffed with different pizza, sandwich, or breakfast toppings and are sooooo good. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

It was such a cool 4th of July this year. We only hit 70 degrees F for a high. We all put on jackets and coats to go the parade. At first I was a little disgruntled about how cold it was, but soon decided I liked it . We didn't have to fight over the few shady spots with the rest of Rexburg, we just sat wherever we wanted to. And with our jackets on, it was the perfect temperature. Honestly if I could order it, I would love that temperature for futer 4th celebrations.

This was one of our favorite floats in the Rexburg parade. They were very creative and threw lots of candy:)

After the parade, we headed to grammy's for dinner and fireworks. Liberty started to learn how to drive "the train" today. It was a quiet afternoon thanks to her and her tireless driving. And then it was off to the fireworks. It was a nice slow paced day. Just the way summer should be.

The fouth of July fell on a Sunday this year which pushed most of the celebrations around here to Saturday. Because of this, se decided to celebrate Branyn's birthday on the 2nd so he wouldn't have to share his birthday with the 4th again. He has really been into trains lately so i did my best to do a train picture on his cake in the limited time I had.

Brancyn isn't quite big enough to make a request for his birthday dinner yet, so we picked for him. I think we picked a winner judging by the look on his face.

Look at how excited he is. He had already taken a peak at this one during dinner and knew their were new trains waiting to be played with inside this package!

Brancyn with all of his Birthday loot-looks like one satisified kid.

Brylee has been part of a little neighborhodd pre-school group this summer. Today was their graduation day. She had a lot of fun. The girl that does the group is a lot of fun and is one of our favorite babysitters.

It was also Father's Day weekend, but somehow I didn't get any pics of that. We celebrated Friday night before company came so that it wouldn't be so crazy. We got Kade a Glen Beck book as well as some "stink spray" that the kids helped pick out. We also made him some banana cream pie-one of his favorites.

Uncle Quin came to Idaho Falls on Monday and stayed for a week. It was fun to visit and see how big and fast Cameron is getting. Again, I didn't take pics. I always forget. Although I did get a few pics of the mess Uncle Quin left behind . . . .

June 19-22

Kylie, Jake, and their kiddos came to visit this weekend. Jake just finished school for a technical degree (auto body and upholstery I believe). They stopped at our house on the way home to visit and put a few resumes into circulation. It was a nice weekend with eating, visiting, eating, and some more visiting:) My cousin Tori came and joined us as well as Jake's brother's and their wives. I just didn't get very many pics as usual.

It took me four tries to get a picture of them both looking up with a pleasant look on their faces.

June 11-13, 2010

Each year for either Memorial Day Weekend or Labor Day Weekend, we try to make it to Yellowstone with Kade's Family. Between weather and illness though, we have had a hard time getting there the last couple of years. This year we had the trip planned for Memorial weekend, but it was snowy and COLD that weekend, so we rescheduled for a couple of weeks later. We thought the middle of June would work just fine. WRONG. It was forecasted to be cold, and snowy yet again. Seeing as that just doens't sound like one bit of fun with a toddler, we baled out on the trip. Kade's parents and sisters however decided to tough it out. Liberty and Kayson were so disappointed so we asked Grammy if they could tag along with her. So I really don't have any dialog about he trip itself other than I heard it definitely was chilly, but at least not wet. The kids had a good time too.

While everyone else was in Yellowstone, we decided we had better do our best to make some fun memories for Brylee, so she wouldn't be jealous. We spent one afternoon at the R-JUMP in town and had a great time.

Because of the Father and Sons campout, we had to push Kayson's birhday celebration over to the 5th. That made his celebration the same day as Grammy's birthday, so they go to celebrate together again this year.

Blowing out the candles

Kaysons requested cake . . . a pile of dirt cake. He had this at a friends party and thought it was great. I did too-it was the easiest cake I have ever decorated! Even if it does look disgusting, it got the thumb's up from the birthday boy.

June 4-5

While the boys were out doing MANLY stuff, the girls were home being girlie. We . . . .

Did facial maskes-these are our scary faces, 'cuz the girls thought we looked like monsters:)

Painted toenails

and enjoyed chocolate cookies and a girlie movie.

It was a fun night for us-it's nice that we can take the opportunity to do this when the boys go away to their campout each year.

Kayson was so excited when the Father and Sons campout fell on his birthday this year. He is such an outdoors kind of kid anyway, so this was the perfect birhtday gift. Grampy came up to enjoy the evening with Kade, Kayson, and Brancyn. They enjoyed some good food, football, and exploring that evening. Then the next day they did a little bit more exploring and some geo caching. They came home dirty, smelly, and wet, but with big smiles on their faces.
